Kevin Walker started hanging wallcoverings nine years ago and has run Walker Premium Wallpaper as an owner-led operation ever since. The business has passed a hundred completed projects, split fairly evenly between homes and commercial interiors, and the model has stayed deliberately small: the person who measures your walls and gives you a number is the person standing on the ladder on installation day.
That is not a marketing position, it is a quality-control decision. Wallcovering is a trade where the difference between a good result and an expensive disappointment is decided in details a client cannot easily inspect — how long the paste was allowed to book, whether the substrate was primed or just wiped down, whether the pattern was centred before the first drop or improvised in a corner. When the estimator and the installer are the same person, nothing gets promised in the quote that gets quietly skipped on site.
Over nine years the work has covered chinoiserie dining rooms in Coral Gables, grasscloth headboard walls in Coconut Grove, nursery murals in Pinecrest, corridor packages for boutique hospitality operators, conference rooms in Brickell towers and designer-specified installs in the Design District. The through-line is not the price point. It is that each one was hung by someone who had to stand next to the client at the final walkthrough.

Floors and furniture protected, tools packed down, debris removed at the end of each day rather than piled in a corner until the end of the job. You should be able to live in the house while we are working in it.

Licensed, bonded, general liability and workers' compensation. Certificates of insurance issued naming the building, association or GC as additional insured, which most Miami high-rises require before you are allowed through the loading dock.
Low-VOC as standard
Low-VOC adhesives and eco-friendly materials are the default rather than an upsell, which matters in a nursery, a small powder room, or any occupied space where people move back in the same evening.

Why Miami Is a Different Job
Installers who move here from elsewhere usually learn the same lesson in their first summer. Humidity keeps adhesive open far longer than it does in a dry climate, which sounds helpful until a panel creeps overnight and the pattern walks half an inch off plumb by morning. Concrete block exterior walls hold moisture that framed interior partitions do not, so a wall that looks dry can still fail a moisture test. And the housing stock is split between older plaster-over-masonry construction in Coral Way and the Grove, where lining paper or a skim coat is often the honest recommendation, and new towers finished to level five drywall, where every imperfection shows under downlights.
Then there is the part that has nothing to do with walls. A high-rise install in Brickell, Edgewater or Aventura involves a certificate of insurance naming the association, an elevator reservation, a loading dock window and often a building engineer who wants to see the paperwork before anyone unloads. Getting that wrong costs a day, and a lost day on a phased schedule costs more than the day itself. Nine years of working in these buildings means the paperwork goes in before the ladder comes out.
